Repositioning: Effects of turning sheets on pressure redistribution mattresses

Question

Regarding a customer who just purchased the Accumax™ Complete low airloss mattresses for their Versacare® frames, they want to know what impact the Liko® turning sheets have on the effects of the pressure redistribution and microclimate management properties of that mattress if the turning sheets are left under the patients.

Answer

Dear Garland:

In Pressure Mapping studies conducted using Liko reposheets (turning sheets) on low air loss mattresses and standard foam surfaces, it was determined that “total heat withdrawal and evaporative capacity of Envision E700 with the Liko™ and RepoSheets™ were above the fitted sheet/quilted chux configuration and non low air loss product performance.” Thus, the Liko™ RepoSheets™ DID NOT negate the low air loss performance of Envision. Those studies did not include the AccuMax Complete mattress.
