Assembly Bill 577, introduced in March 2007, would require hospitals and skilled nursing facilities to establish a program and policy for safe handling of patients, including a committee on safe handling of patients, annual training for employees on safe handling of patients, annual evaluation of the policy, consideration of incorporation of lifting equipment during construction or remodeling, and annual reports to the Nevada Legislature concerning the safe handling of patients.  On April 23, 2007, AB 577 passed the Assembly 34 to 8 and is currently in the Senate.
