We have a policy in place. Still some room for improvement, but employees have been using equipment more than before we started the program. We are getting assistance from our Workers' Comp Ins. Company in developing a strategy to lower back injuries - have purchased new lifting equipment and have been doing a lot of training. We are making slow progress
Nurses still reluctant to go "find" the lift, but we have implemented refresher training @ our monthly competency day to encourage use We are at the stage where we are trying to get buyin from Executive
We continue to purchase equipment and train employees - having some difficulty on the employee side as they are reluctant to change old lifting habits
We are currently working on implementing a no lift policy
Training is off to a good start and continuing on an upward trend. Changing the culture to use the equipment for patients other than those that are heavy has been difficult
Would like to admit to being fully operational but SPH is a continuous endeavor. We are finding we are running full speed ahead compared to others talked with.
