The Safe Lifting Portal Web Site is part of a “pro bono” healthcare industry awareness campaign designed to raise caregiver consciousness about patient safety, injury prevention through safe patient handling. The objective of the site is to provide a general clearing-house of timely information and relevant links that will assist visitors in their injury prevention efforts.

Background: In March of 2005, several healthcare facilities approached Liko North America requesting assistance to increase the rate of caregiver participation in injury prevention programs. The resulting Liko-sponsored “Safe Lifting Environment” campaign and symbol were introduced shortly thereafter.

To date, more than 1,000 healthcare facilities have received free Safe Lifting Environment Starter Kits, including several multi-site chains. The Safe Lifting Portal was a logical extension of the Safe Lifting Environment campaign. It offers users immediate access to a wide variety of resources and is designed to expand in size and scope based on user feedback.
